I bought a copy of acronis true image 10 it is installed on my computer and work great but i am having issues with my computer and need to reformat it. Before i do that i need to know if there is a way to retreive my serial number since i have lost the papers that came with it and I like an idoit never bothered to register it. If anyone know were the serial number is stored in the registry could you please let me know. I have tried looking but was unable to find anything that looked like it.

    Thanks,

The number isn't in the registry, not in readable form anyway.

Hopefully, you registered on the Acronis web site and registered your serial number(s) too. If so, then you can just go to the web site, log in, go to Your Registered Products, click the product in question and you will see your serial number and what files you can download.

If you didn't do that, then you'll hopefully you wrote the number down somewhere safe.

If you didn't do that, then hoepfully you had ATI installed and made a bootCD and can restore a image of the drive when it contained a file in which you diligiently recorded the serial number.

If you didn't do that but you bought the software on-line from Acronis via Digital River, that then hoepfully you saved the email in which Digital River sent you the download link and also, voila, the serial number.

If you didn't do any of those things, then all you can do is copy your receipt and attach it to an email in which you have recorded your story and sent it to Acronis, begging Acronis to issue you another serial number -- sometimes a software maker will issue a new serial number in such circumstances, but not as a rule. After all, if you haven't done any of those things, then there's no way for Acronis to distinguish you from someone that's trying to use ATI without paying for it.

I've been there. Done that. Not fun. Good luck.

If you start TI in Windows, version 10 will display the serial number in the Help->About box.

As I see it all you can do is email Acronis and explain the situation include the email address you used when buying Acronis and your name and let them match your info to their server records, and they will send you a copy of your Acronis information. I went through loseing all my records 3 years ago when My computer was totally wiped by a virus.

I think you either need to check your registration info or give you purchase info to Acronis to get another serial number.

BTW, Mudcrab provides some of the best info this forum has to offer. Usually, if Mudcrab has responded to a thread I won't even look at it -- I know it's covered better than I could do. I guess there's some concilation in knowing mudcrab is fallible on the lesser points. ;)

As posted in this thread, I was assuming (my mistake) that the OP was using the latest build of TI 10 (4,942). As posted in your thread, the build you used doesn't show the serial number.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm always open to being corrected if I'm wrong.

The serial number display problem is more related to Acronis. They chose to display and not to display it in various builds. I don't have them all installed and don't keep track of it. For TI 11 (8,053), Acronis has again removed the display of the serial number from the Help->About box. DD 10 (2,160) shows the serial number. Will the next release? Probably not. Perhaps they're afraid it's too easy for someone to steal it if it's displayed in such an accessible location.
