A couple of days ago, I received my first alert via free AVG scan that SecThought.e worm was found on my computer. Like other posts I've seen, I have been unable to remove the worm to the vault. It simply won't let me.

[By the way, I checked the grisoft.com site for AVG and it doesn't list the SecThought.e worm in its list of viruses and worms.]

I downloaded Spybot, following the directions on Wilder Security, and scanned and removed the files in red. Starting last night and now this morning, my system is running sluggishly and I'm having difficulties with Outlook; it's freezing and not pulling email off the server or letting me open old email. (I'll restart computer to see if that helps.)

Having downloaded hijackthis and scanned, I'm pasting the log below. THANK YOU in advance, I'm looking forward to hearing from an expert.

    Hi pmsears

Where did AVG find the virus??

Check the following items in HijackThis - close ALL windows\browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked":

    O2 - BHO: My Search BHO - {014DA6C1-189F-421a-88CD-07CFE51CFF10} - C:\Program Files\MySearch\bar\1.bin\S4BAR.DLL

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

    O3 - Toolbar: My &Search Bar - {014DA6C9-189F-421a-88CD-07CFE51CFF10} - C:\Program Files\MySearch\bar\1.bin\S4BAR.DLL

    O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler V3.exe

    O4 - Startup: Shortcut to Microsoft Outlook.lnk = ?

    O4 - Startup: vtlink.lnk = ?

    O16 - DPF: {08BEF711-06DA-48B2-9534-802ECAA2E4F9} (PlxInstall Class) - https://www.plaxo.com/down/release/PlaxoInstall.cab

    Optional:

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [PlaxoUpdate] C:\Program Files\Plaxo\2.0.1.13\InstallStub.exe -a

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

The PowerReg Scheduler is a registration scheduler put there to remind you to register a certain product. It may periodically attempt to connect to the Internet and gather unknown information. This is used by companies such as Iomega, Hasbro & Microprose among others.

Then Boot to safe mode: Instructions here

Make sure you can view hidden and system files: Instructions here

Delete the following folder IF still present:

    C:\Program Files\MySearch

    Reboot

Empty your Temporary Internet Files and history in Internet Options. And clean out your
    %Userprofile%\Local Settings\Temp
folder. It's a good idea to do that regularly.

Then Disable system restore: Instructions here
    Reboot

    Enable System Restore.

    Pls. post another log.
