I get a lot of zio files, How do I set it up for those to be scanned
Do you think on-demand or realtime scan settings?
Setup -> Enter entire advanced setup tree... -> Antivirus and antispyware -> On-demand computer scan -> Select profile -> ThreatSense engine parameter setup -> Objects
it is checked...
why won't my zip file be scanned
Is still an unreolved issue that I feel is being ignored. I have 0 in my temp folders & plenty of memory so why are all my compressed or zip files not being scanned , this is an issue because of unknown virus & or nasties that could be compressed & ignored. It's ESS & tha av neither will scan, any help would be appreciated...
please close, I have moved to another av, thanks
I'm not quite sure where to start Larry but will be glad to attempt to assist.
What actually happens when you do an on demand scan with the particular profile you are using in regards to Archives ?
Also, do you have Other\Log all objects selected in the ThreatSense engine parameter setup for that particular profile ? That would help in showing what is or is not being scanned.
The offer still stands if you wish to re-consider but if it is causing grief I can understand and We can simply move forward.
Maybe running Process monitor while scanning an archive would reveal more information as to what exact folder ESS is trying to unpack the files to.
here are my settings, I still can't scan a zip or compressed file...sorry it couldn't upload my deepest apologies...
eicar zip ignored
to see to what extent the zip files were not being scanned , I turned off all security & download the eicar zip file & saved to my desktop. Turned everything back on & I was right I tried to scan it, ESS ignored it,
C:\Users\Larry\Desktop\eicar_com.zip » ZIP » eicar.com - decompression could not complete (possible reasons: insufficient free memory or disk space, or a problem with temp folders)
I have 1.5 gig mem, clean temp folders & 112 gigs of free space. I run vista & this is a problem...
doesn't anyone from the company care?
Using PM you can see where NOD32 is trying to unpack to.
I apologize I'm not that knowledgeable on process monitor or how to use it & shouldn't the program 'just work' without the user jumping through hoops..??
your using vista aswel, so expect problems
amen to that
all I can come up with in PM is this
Date & Time: 12/31/2007 10:01:06 PM
Event Class: File System
Result: ACCESS DENIED
Desired Access: Generic Read
Options: Synchronous IO Non-Alert, Non-Directory File
it look like it tries but fails to create a path in the temp dir...any help appreciated...
well it was 1/1/08 so did a reformat & no still won't scan a zip but I like ESET so I'm sticking with it or outpost pro & 2.7, I like ESET programs, BTW it was a pain to get my games running in vista but I really want v3 to run on my machine...happy new years to all...
