    Hi!

Do you think on-demand or realtime scan settings?

Setup -> Enter entire advanced setup tree... -> Antivirus and antispyware -> On-demand computer scan -> Select profile -> ThreatSense engine parameter setup -> Objects

why won't my zip file be scanned

Is still an unreolved issue that I feel is being ignored. I have 0 in my temp folders & plenty of memory so why are all my compressed or zip files not being scanned , this is an issue because of unknown virus & or nasties that could be compressed & ignored. It's ESS & tha av neither will scan, any help would be appreciated...

I'm not quite sure where to start Larry but will be glad to attempt to assist.

What actually happens when you do an on demand scan with the particular profile you are using in regards to Archives ?

Also, do you have Other\Log all objects selected in the ThreatSense engine parameter setup for that particular profile ? That would help in showing what is or is not being scanned.

Maybe running Process monitor while scanning an archive would reveal more information as to what exact folder ESS is trying to unpack the files to.

    eicar zip ignored

to see to what extent the zip files were not being scanned , I turned off all security & download the eicar zip file & saved to my desktop. Turned everything back on & I was right I tried to scan it, ESS ignored it,

C:\Users\Larry\Desktop\eicar_com.zip » ZIP » eicar.com - decompression could not complete (possible reasons: insufficient free memory or disk space, or a problem with temp folders)

I have 1.5 gig mem, clean temp folders & 112 gigs of free space. I run vista & this is a problem...

Using PM you can see where NOD32 is trying to unpack to.

I apologize I'm not that knowledgeable on process monitor or how to use it & shouldn't the program 'just work' without the user jumping through hoops..??

all I can come up with in PM is this

    Sequence: 520576
    Date & Time: 12/31/2007 10:01:06 PM
    Event Class: File System
    Operation: CreateFile
    Result: ACCESS DENIED
    Path: C:\Windows\Temp\NOD4A5D.tmp
    TID: 4084
    Duration: 0.0000296
    Desired Access: Generic Read
    Disposition: Create
Options: Synchronous IO Non-Alert, Non-Directory File
    Attributes: N
    ShareMode: None
    AllocationSize: 0
    Impersonating: Larry-PC\Larry

it look like it tries but fails to create a path in the temp dir...any help appreciated...
