Scan URLs with VirusTotal URL scan; includes Microsoft's SmartScreen filter

    Method 1: Go to http://www.virustotal.com/ and click on 'Submit a URL' tab. Microsoft's SmartScreen is one of the analysis tools :D.

    Method 2: Firefox users can also use VirusTotal's VTzilla Firefox extension.

    Using the best "blacklist" blocker seems like a win-win for VT. :thumb:

    Thank you CloneRanger; indeed you posted first :). I did have that Ghacks.net article bookmarked, very likely because of your post. When I got around to looking at that bookmark and decided to post about it at Wilders, I did a titles-only search for 'virustotal' and didn't find anything relevant - your post didn't come up in the search because it doesn't have 'virustotal' in the title. In any event, a URL checking service is broader in scope than just checking URLs pointing to files, so I think it's a good idea to post about it at this forum, which is broader in scope than the 'other anti-virus software' forum.
