Can anybody help me with this? I normally run my Ewido scan (fast scan every time I boot up, and it takes about 6-8 minutes). I try to run the full scan once per week but today both of them won't complete. The full scan was going for over an hour and a half and it just said it was scanning files, but stuck at 34%? Do I have a virus? It is hung up on a file that has spuninst.exe at the end. Nothing was coming up as bad but this never happened before! Help!!!

Has anybody heard of any fix for this? I sent an email question to Ewido tech support but have not heard anything yet?

Oh, so it is something they may be able to fix with an automatic update? (I hope). I have never had any problems like this whatsover with Ewido and it has protected me well to this point.:(

One of my friends on AOL had a problem with Ewido hanging at an AOL file and sent the info to Ewido support. He asked me to post his issue. I just downloaded the same file and scanned it without any problem using version 4.0. He uses version 3.5. Here is the info he sent to me:
    QUOTE

    C:\aolconnfix.exe
    6/26/06
As of the todays updates that were under this release
    Last update:Today, 13:07 CEST
    Known threats in database:
    356,749 threats

The Ewido Scanner version 3.5 hangs up on the above file C:\aolconnfix.exe
it will not scan past it

More info about the file can be found here

    http://browser.cdn.aol.com/browsershared/connfix.html

The only out of the scan it to cancel it out
A log can not be generated either due to the
    Hang up
The scanner never got hung up on this file before or any other file

My OS is Windows Home XPSp2
    ISP is AOL
    Installed is NIS 2005
I have not had any troubles with Ewido 3.5 till this update
    END QUOTE

There must be something wrong with todays updates.

I don't have AOL. I have Adelphia. high speed cable. I sure hope they can get this fixed. I will not be web surfing until they do.

the hangup file for me is C:\windows\$hf_mig\KB834707\spuninst.exe.

So far they have not fixed it, nor have I received a reply to my email. As a result of the scan not completing I picked up a Trojan, but downloaded the newest version of AVAST (updated) ran the scan and got rid of it. However, I am not browsing the internet until Ewido can run a scan.I wonder how long it has been since this problem and the hangup file was reported? If anybody hears anything please post here and let me and others in this same boat know what is going on. Thanks.

I too live in wild, wonderful WV and tried to send you a PM to see where you are from, but got an error message that your PM box is too full. Have you reported this file hangup to Ewido Rita?

This issue is known and a fix is also in work. Please be patient.

We're sorry for the inconvenience. :doubt:

I could be wrong, but my guess is if all we needed to do was delete the "hangup file" someone would have posted that as the solution and even how to do it for those like me who are not comfortable with file deletions. My guess is that the problem runs deeper than that. :(

From reading other threads now it seems that perhaps we should download the 4.0 version and it would take care of this problem. I am a bit reluctant to do that though as I am not sure if I can locate the old license key for the 3.5 version and I believe I may need that to uninstall it when downloading the upgrade.o_O
