SATA greyed out on image restore

    Using an HP Pavilion I made images of the Root petition and data petitions. Images verify ok. However on attempts to restore to the C (root) petition, the drive is greyed out and not accessable. Is there a reason for this? It occurs either from windows or the bootable (full) cD.

    Thanks in advance for any help.
