Since I've upgraded my computer to Windows11, Sandboxed Osiris (browser) started reporting a new Sandboxie error - SBIE2211.

Are you using “drop admin rights” with Osiris?

In that message, Sandboxie is telling you that Osiris wants to update or check for updates and the SBIE BITS service cant start. Osiris needs BITS to run in order for the update function. to work. Chromium browsers generate many SBIE messages, this is just one of them (very common message).

I am not familiar with Osiris, perhaps today is the first time I heard of it. So I don't know if you can but if you can disable the checking for updates function, do it as doing that might help. Also, keeping Drop rights disabled is the way to have that setting with this type of browser.

Other than that, Zmechy, what I can tell you is that if Osiris works properly despite the SBIE message, then you can ignore it and/or hide it, and forget about it.

    Bo,

    LOL!

Maybe, you could help me with the following.

When I'm using Brave without Sandboxie, Brave's spellcheck works without any problems, but...
If I'm using Brave with Sandboxie, its spellcheck stops working. It tells me that "Could not download dictionary".

It's only with Sandboxed Brave. Any other Sandboxed Chrome based browsers have no problems with spellcheck.

    Thank you.

Hi zemechy. I am not familiar with Brave or browsers dictionaries but solving your issue is probably easy, and you can try to solve it yourself. It is likely that sandboxed Brave can not communicate with the file that it needs to read/write. That is probably what the message you got (Could not download dictionary) means. Because of this lack of communication, the dictionary doesn't work in the sandboxed environment.

What you need to do is try to figure out the file that the sandboxed browser needs to access. Once you do that, you give sandboxed Brave Direct file access to the file. This file is usually found in App data. If the dictionary is an extension, look for the file within the extension folder in App data. If the dictionary is part of Brave, then look within the Brave folder in App data.

Hints that can help figuring out the file you need your sandboxed browser to have access to: If the dictionary is part of Brave, look for a file or folder that is named dictionary or something close to. If there is one, then it is likely that this is the file or folder that you need brave to have access to. You can also test using the dictionary outside the sandbox and look at the same time for the time stamp of files within the Braves folder in App data. As you use the dictionary, is possible that at the same time the time stamp of a file changes, that would be a clue that that file is the one you need to give sandboxed Brave Direct file access to. If it becomes difficult figuring out what file is the right file to give access to, you can trial and error with files and folders within the Brave folder in App data. If the dictionary is an extension, you could trial and error the entire folder, if the dictionary works by doing that, then you can leave it like that, or be more precise and continue testing a file at a time, if you look at time stamps, this process is not that difficult.

Okay. I installed Brave, as test. I ran Brave in/out of DefaultBox. I did not see "Spell check dictionary download failed" message. So, I Google'd.
Sorry, I'm not familiar with Brave.
Curious, did you try running Brave in a new discrete default sbox, as test.

No. My default SBox is for Chrome. It's for my wife.

And that problem is only with highly-advertised Brave.

I don't have that issue with Chrome, Edge, Vivaldi, Opera, Firefox, Osiris, Epic, etc...

Only that "highly-advertised" Brave that has that issue.

Are you using any specific app template option for Brave in your sandbox?

    No. Nothing special.

My default is Chrome (google) for my wife.
And I'm just rightclicking any browser icon to run it sandboxed.

Try to temporarily enable App Template options for Brave. Perhaps preference and/or sync data to see if anything helps with spell check

Okay. If I ran Brave. I'd run discrete Brave sbox.
I tested Brave in [DefaultBox] (default settings) with no Brave templates.
Sorry, I'm not familiar with Brave.

I was able to find a problem with my Brave's spellcheck while using it Sandboxed.

I've removed all my extensions, including a VPN proxy, and started checking on that dictionary status.
And the culprit was my FastestVPN proxy.
I always use a Desktop VPN app, plus a browser VPN extension/proxy.
And, so far only, when I'm using SANDBOXED Brave with the FastestVPN extension, I have that spellcheck problem.
Brave without Sandboxie has no spellcheck issues.
Any other Sandboxed browsers with the FastestVPN extension have no dictionary/spellcheck issues.
I've replaced FastestVPN with a different VPN extension, and I have no more spellcheck problems.

    Just a side question.

While I was having my spellcheck problems posting comments with Disqus, other web-sites,
I had no issues with Brave's spellcheck at WildersSecurity.
My Sandboxed Brave with FastestVPN (the spellcheck problem creator) had a perfectly working spellcheck at Wilders Security.
    Go figure.

Just an update about my Brave's spellcheck issue.
I was so happy to find that "culprit" for my spellcheck issue - the FastestVPN proxy.
I've replaced it with a different VPN proxy, and my spellcheck issues were gone. Hooray!
    But...

As soon as I've checked for any leaks my Brave, I got a problem.
    My DNS was leaking.

    To sum up.

My DNS is not leaking while using Sandboxed Brave but Brave's spellcheck is not working.
If Sandboxed Brave's spellcheck is working(!), then, Brave with a VPN (browser) extension is LEAKING!
    In short.

Way too many problems with Brave for me.

    Hi,
I went back to 5.33.6 after trying the other versions. I had errors in the event viewer and sometimes I had the impression that it does not work normally. Now I only use the default box in firefox without restrictions because I also use VoodooShield. I have no problems or errors (Windows 10 Pro 21H1, firefox 94.0.2).
I'm only interested to surfing the internet. I'm not trying to test software and I can use windows sandbox as needed. I wish you well!
