To be honest, never saw this on Win 8.1, all sandboxed processes are correctly displayed as "Untrusted" in Process Explorer.

The next version will be released without any major changes, this version more than anything will be for testing the Cert. To make sure it goes well with Microsoft. As to when it will be released, Tom has to finish setting up things related to the Cert. This takes time.

Besides that, there is really nothing major to update right now. Version 5.33.6 is working great in W10 latest stable build and is compatible with the upcoming update .

Is that true? I cannot create new sandboxes or install software into them. As the PCs system admin, I get the following error: "The operation was blocked by parental controls. (346)". (Windows 10 x64, 10.0.18363). Nothing in the old Sandboxie forums have a solution to this problem.

Hi ANGLAY, I don't remember ever before reading anyone else reporting that cant create new sandboxes. Perhaps your Sandboxie installation is corrupted, or you have some software in your computer that blocks making changes like creating sandboxes or installing programs. Anyway, I can create sandboxes and install programs in them. We all know, at least most of us know, that we cant run MSI installers in SBIE, but regular exe's should work fine. As long as the program you try to install in a sandbox is not complicated, your chances of having a successful install in the sandbox is good.

Dont expect every program that exist to intall sandboxed, but a good amount of them can be installed sandboxed. Personally, I use SBIE mostly to run programs that are installed in the host, and them I run them sandboxed, but ever since I got my W10 in 2017, I usually have had Irfanview and PotPlayer installed sandboxed. I usually keep the installs for a week or so and delete them, and reinstall them back. I just reinstalled this 2 programs a couple of days ago. I am in W10 1909 18363.836. And have SBIE 5.33.6. Nothing out of normal.

Look at some pictures. In the first two, I am creating a new sandbox that I call aaaa.

    1.jpg

    2.jpg

In the next two pictures, you can see the folders for the sandboxed installations for PotPlayer and Irfanview. PotPlayer is installed in a sandbox I call Prueba3. And Irfanview, is installed in a sandbox called JPEG.

    4.jpg

ANGLAY, for solution I think you can try reinstaling Sandboxie. But that parental message, that doesn't sound like anything related to SBIE. You need to figure out the program in your computer that can control what users can change in programs like SBIE. And allow the changes in SBIE.

Anglay, you're not using ESET as your AV are you? Sandboxie and ESET don't play well together on my PC.

    Just for info.
I notice since upgrading to Win 10 2004 I now get some extra items in the popup window. I just close the window with no ill-effect. Happens on all my updated machines.

I thought there was a (new) popup while starting Sandboxie.

    Using uptodate Edge Chromium sandboxed:

    SBIE2303 Could not hook CoGetObject (33, 1655)
    SBIE2303 Could not hook RegisterDragDrop (33, 1655)
SBIE2318 DLL initialization failed for 'ole32.dll'
    SBIE2303 Could not hook CM_Add_Driver_PackageW (33, 1655)
SBIE2318 DLL initialization failed for 'cfgmgr32.dll'
    SBIE2303 Could not hook SetCurrentProcessExplicitAppUserModelID (33, 1655)

Yes same in New Edge as it is Chromium based.
It was an info post really, as the original ones mentioned (until today) have been there for quite a while.

I haven't updated yet, so this is good info to know. If this is all, then 5.33.6 is looking good in 2004. :)

So far, Vivaldi in the Default Box v. 5.33.6 is running very nicely on Windows 2004. I wasn't so lucky in Insiders w/Opera but that's a thing of the past. Had to hide some SBIE error messages like deugniet mentioned above (popping up on YouTube specifically)--they're not seeming to have a meaningful impact but I'll wait and see.

You were right as rain, bo elam. It's appreciated. :)

Updated Windows 10 to Version 2004, OS build 19041.264 (took 1hr. 45min.) and it works well with Sandboxie version 5.33.6 and Fire Fox, with no popup notices. So all is well so far. :thumb:

I was just the messenger my friend platt. I asked Curt about 5.33.6 working with 2004, and he said that it was all set. And me, the messenger, posted that info here (as I knew this info would make many of us here happy). Later, I also asked Tom, and he said that 5.33.6 not only works with 2004....but also with FR. :D

By the way, I am getting that ESENT Warning 642 (this is not related to SBIE) you were talking about the other day, have you found a solution?

I did it today, finished a couple hours ago, Wolfrun. Yes, Firefox is working fine with SBIE in 2004.

Seems to always have been there doesn't it (I have it too) and it's mentioned all over the place the last couple of years.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's just a generic warning for when things don't work properly :D

This one is new (642) for me. But some time ago, I had another ESENT Error or Warning, and was easy to fix. You just had to create a DB file that doesnt exist in your/my W10 installation. The system looks for the DB file to write what it wants to write, and when it doesn't find it, the EVENT gets logged. This one probably has a similar solution, you just have to know what file to create and where it is located. This past couple of months, I read platt and others mention 642, so it was no surprise to get it. If possible, I like to fix it. The Event you are getting is also 642? And getting quite a few?

Yes I'm getting quite a lot now.
Here are some of the things that are listed in Event Viewer as it being associated with....
    Search Indexer
    svchost
    WebPlat Storage
    Catalogue database
basically seems like the whole operating system:argh:

I done my testing. All I do sandboxed, works fine with 5.33.6 in W10 2004. I got some errors in Events log the first time I plugged a flash drive sandboxed. But cant really tell if it was due to SBIE or not. Probably not. Nowadays it is not uncommon to get errors or warnings once in a while when plugin flash drives in W10, specially if you don't plug flash drives often.

I dont think this event is anything to worry....or good reason to go back to 1909. I kind of expected it. But it looks ugly, and makes it difficult to spot more meaningful warnings. In a few days I am going to try tracking them.

I'm not worried about it either. I won't bother tracking them down as I think some of the causes will be 'mended' in updates.

Yes, bo elam, currently lots of ESENT 642 "warnings"--which were also occurring in the Insiders (2004) latter builds, along with large amounts of Schannel errors, which had me backing out of Insiders altogether. Event Viewer was very ugly for a while. Those Schannel ones are gone now. Yes, I agree, the bark is much worse than the bite when you get these warnings and "yes" Sandboxie was innocent of any wrongdoing with those errors. *puppy*

Some issues persist like the disk defrag ("never run"), a dism...checkhealth bug, and the ESENT yellow warnings. If there's a new Sandboxie build coming up, I hope it won't diverge too much from this one, it's doing pretty well so far. Looking into those multiple errors one gets occ. in chromium browsers would be nice.
