Sandboxie-Plus v1.2.6 and v1.2.7

This build changes two core Sandboxie mechanics.
It reworks the hooking mechanism to enable proper unhooking on dll unload which should solve various compatibility issues
It lets Sandboxie to use custom logon tokens instead of the anonymous one, the option is on by default in the test build and can be controlled with the "SandboxieLogon" setting

This build also adds various UI improvements and a Vintage View Mode which makes Sandman.exe look almost like the classic SbieCtrl.exe

Just curious if this is something behind the scenes or can we
see its effects in just this version alone (if so, how please)?

1.2.6 download was not removed - "test build" words were removed from description posted on GitHub.

 

When you save global options it will only then create a sandboxie.ini entry when the value choosen is not the known default.
Users had issues going back from 1.2.x to 1.1.x as 1.2.x set SandboxieLogon=y and 1.1.x knew this option but it was different and caused an error.

 

So, v1.2.6 is now "backwards" compatible with v1.1.x if doing an over-the-top downgrade (keeping the same ini)?
This method appears to be similar to how the settings are saved in the [Options] section of sandboxie-plus.ini

 

Hi,
I have extension, should as Bitwarden and VYTAL on Microsoft Edge, anybody else have extensions with Sandboxie Plus ?
Thoughts/Opinions/Suggestions ?

Feed back on different browsers below:

* Avast Browser will not work or load.
* Brave and LiberWolf, work very well.
* Microsoft Edge, work but, load slow at first, maybe it do to the extensions.

System Tray: Icon of Sandboxie, there is a couple oft them,meaning , Sandboxie Icons, until I take the mouse and go over it.
Then it disappear...

 

Edge sbox with three extensions and a lot of Edge switches off...okay for me.

Avast browser is special, connect to avast support
Brave is chromium, "fake security" Librewolf is firefox - LW MUST work in sandboxie, because firefox do.
edge is running proper (sb classic), but i could not reach my live account for sync in the previous build.

concerning LibreWolf - if you experience graphical glitches in websites PRF (privacy.resistFingerprinting) could be the reason (like in tor browser)

 

1.2.6 working well on all our windows 10 laptops & the one windows 11 machine. All overwrites, bar one which was a clean installation to replace the classic version I was using previously on it. We're 100% SB+ in the house now. Cheers for the great work David. I feel like this build is the best one yet.

Maybe, you see this (similar) message/s when calling Edge forced sbox. I think the message means Edge extension is updating extension data/cache in my Edge sbox upon calling my empty Edge forced sbox.

My response for this (similar) message/s is to check updates for my Edge extensions data/cache outside sbox -> then call my Edge forced sbox. Seems to work most of the time.

I get the above message with Microsoft Edge all the time, when using Sandboxie Plus.
Seem that the extensions are causing the problems.
I will try what you suggested, many thanks....

 

Malwarebytes told me Malwarebytes Browser Guard extension checks for & auto-updates database on Edge launch. MBG extension has local data/cache.
My uBlock Origin extension has a switch to disable Auto-update filter lists. MBG extension does not have a switch to disable auto-update database.

 

upgraded from 1.19 to 1.26 but now cannot access any internet sites when sandboxed - basically left everything as default during installation/ over-the-top and while the browsers load, any attempt to surf to any site is blocked.
I changed the default from hardened to standard, thinking this might make a difference but to no avail. I suspect it's just a setting somewhere but need some guidance. I normally use forced programs for all browsers, have allow all programs to start in the default sandbox ticked, have internet restrictions as per default with allow access. I am not familiar or remember the option for Resource Access where File/Folder shows as Program Group BlockNetDevises Access Closed Path InternetAccessDevices - is that setting causing the issue?

 

OMG, this is the best Sandboxie release ever, no more ugly focus rectangle, will soon check it out!

You are probably using some 3rd party software that does SSL scanning which seams to not be compatible with SandboxieLogon=y, disable it set it to n and all should be fine

One follow-up question if I may - during update the compatibility window popped up and as once before I noticed a distinction between ticket boxes and black boxes. What is the purpose of the Black Box for Enable MS edge fix?

 

black is a suggestion and if you click ok/apply it will change to a ticked box.
This state is used to distinguish between already set settings and values the compatybility assistent wants to set right now.

 

I have just installed Sandboxie Plus v1.2.6 and I must say that I'm impressed! It's so much better than a year ago, and I like the GUI better than the old one from Sandboxie Classic. I haven't tested everything yet, but so far so good. About the ugly focus rectangle, not a big deal but perhaps you can also remove it from the Sbie messages pane. And is there a way to get the old trayicon back, without having to switch to Vintage View? But it's not a big deal or anything, the new icon also looks good. All in all, great job!

 

Advanced View -> Options -> Global Settings -> Shell Integration -> Systray options -> Show Icon in Systray -> Show Classic icon -> Apply -> OK -> X close window -> Exit tray -> call SandMan
