The release of an ARM64 compatible Sandboxie-Plus build is getting closer, a unsigned test build has already been made available in the private github repo for Patreons (Tier "Even More Support" and above) and project contributors. Signed build will follow soon. Sandboxie-Plus 1.5.x is compatible with Windows 11 and 10, supports native arm64 binaries as well as x86 and x64 (win 11 only). ARM32 is not supported as presumably there is next to no such software out there anyways, trying to run a 32 bit arm binary will cause Message SBIE2338. When sandboxie is running it disables the use of CHPE Binaries for x86 processes globally, this is required for the forced processes functionality, this behavior can be disabled by adding the global option "DisableCHPE=n" to the sandboxie.ini, then x86 processes started outside the sandbox instead of being forced will be terminated with Message SBIE2338. Also the sandman code base has been made Qt 6 compatible so we have a native arm64 sandman.exe as required for windows 10. Hence unlike earlier planned there will be no joined 64bit x64/arm64 installer but just one more platform specific installer for Sbie+ ARM64. There will be no classic installer for the ARM64 version, but the plus installer will as it does for other platforms install SbieCtrl.exe allowing to use the old UI if such desired.
I don't get it, which CPU's except for Apple's M1 and M2 are based on ARM? So Sandboxie runs on macOS now, or what?
No still windows, but there are a few windows on arm devices by now: https://geizhals.at/?cat=nb&xf=1482_ARM~19188_Ja Also you can install windows on raspberry PI's
Sorry, forgot to reply, but I suppose it will also run on the upcoming MS Surface Pro 9 with the Snapdragon ARM CPU? And would it be difficult to develop Sandboxie for the M1/M2 macOS? https://www.windowscentral.com/hard...urface-pro-9-under-one-product-line-this-fall
Yea it wil run on the new surfaces. Sandboxie is a windows software it wil not run under mac OS, but if you install windows 11 on a M1/M2 mac it will run in that windows just fine
That is indeed pretty cool that it can run on ARM based CPU's. And I was just wondering if something like Sandboxie could be programmed for macOS, but I guess you first need to know more about macOS innerworkings in order to answer this question.
So it is done! For Patrons on tier 10$ and above a internal ARM64 enabled signed preview build is available.
Just in time with MSFT showing off thair new ARM64 hardware Sandboxie-Plus goes public with 64 bit support: https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/commit/e00cacb0b9f00cb18eedabe705547934a71377c1 the first CI build also just finished: https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/actions/runs/3237263057 a pepper release is scheduled for around monday
