    Hi there,

Same problem as others have posted I'm afraid... rivera.cc redirecting to search-town.com as my IE homepage, can't get rid of it (even after Spybot, rebooting/resetting homepage, etc.). Any help will be greatly appreciated, please.

As suggested in the log posting policy, I ran Spybot S&D v. 1.2 with the latest updates and got rid of everything it flagged in red.

Here's the logfile from HijackThis. Thanks (in advance) for the help!

First download CWshredder from http://www.thespykiller.co.uk then Run it
Close all browser windows, click on the cwshredder.exe then click "FIX" (Not "Scan only") and let it do it's thing.

and make sure you follow the advice about the security updates listed on the last page, in order to prevent re-infection, otherwise you will be continually reinfected
    the patches are :
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=828026
    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/bulletin/ms03-011.asp
*Note: The simplest way to make sure you have all the security patches is to go to Windows update and install all "Critical Updates & service Packs"

    then reboot

Thanks very much Derek!!! That seems to have done the trick.

My WinXP machine does d/l updates on a consistent (and more or less automatic) basis but I guess I got infected in some gap between updates... anyway cwshredder seems to have given the thing a good thumping.

I *do* like hedgehogs and will donate to your cause... just donated to the save the Kakapo cause in NZ 'cos I like them, they're kind of like what hedgehogs would be if they were parrots (no I'm not making this up, see http://www.kakaporecovery.org.nz/index1.html for details). Love 'hogs though, saw one last time I was in England, will make a donation in thanks :).

    Cheers,
    Split8.
