    Hi.
Yesterday I installed SafeOnline under my administrator account.
Upon rebooting under the LUA account, it isn't running.

Am I missing something too obvious?

    Thanks in advance,
    François

You did the right thing installing under an admin account.

Prevx should be running if you reboot and log into a limited user account with UAC enabled. If it doesn't run wait for PrevxHelp he will know what to do. Meanwhile can you edit your post so we know your OS and what other security sotware you are running.

Since I'm running XP Pro this is not applicable.
    Thanks!
    Done.
(still doesn't work after a few reboots, BTW)

It is working fine on my computer with LUA. Did you try uninstalling and reinstall?

Had to read it twice myself: he means UAC which isn't on XP :)

fblais: I'm not sure if this will work but it might: Could you please try creating a registry key under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run named "Prevx" of type REG_SZ with a value of:

    "c:\program files\prevx\prevx.exe" /bootupreg

    (quotes included)

Let me know if you have any questions with it - we had another user do this last week and it fixed his problems so it might solve yours as well! :)

Yes, UAC. Sorry if it was unclear.
Under the LUA account or Administator one?
I doubt I'd be able to modify the registry under the LUA account.

If you modify it under the administrator account, it should carry over the settings to the limited account as well (just won't be writable there, but still executed).

    It didn't work.
I did a re-install, rebooted with the Admin account, rebooted with the LUA account and it now works, thanks.

Question: what's the difference between this and the "regular" Prevx?
    Seems almost identical to me.

There shouldn't be any real differences between SafeOnline/Prevx (it is the same underlying software) - could you let me know if you still have the "Prevx" registry entry in place or is it just working now with the default configuration?

    Thanks! :)

Will check tonight and get back to you.

Can I disable everything except the SafeOnline component?
(without getting a red icon or warnings of some kind)

SafeOnline relies on the other components of Prevx like detection/prevention in the event that something was to get past SafeOnline so unfortunately you can't disable the other components, however, you could lower the heuristic levels to ensure that they stay out of your way with unnecessary warnings, although those should be infrequent anyway :)

I run Admin on all my computers with Prevx and could care less. Bring it on because I have yet to see where running admin was a issue. Back up scanner, MBAM.

    Thanks.
IOW, there's no real difference between Prevx and SafeOnline. (other than you can disable SO if you just want to run Prevx, but Prevx is necessary if you want to use SO only, so "regular" Prevx is the same as SafeOnline as a standalone product)
SO even says "Prevx v3.0.5.187 blabla" when I hover the mouse over the tray icon.

The Prevx registry "hack" is not visible in the LUA account HKLM branch.
Don't know if it's still in the Admin account's registry though.

Since I run Immunet Protect Plus, I wanted to use SO only.
