I am being advised by Windows to download and install KB831167 I have installed all other updates but was unsure if I should install this one as I have not had any web connection problems, as yet. Can you advise me if I should install the KB831167 update anyway. Thank you

I myself don't have IE 6.0 SP1, so from own experience I cannot advice you.

But you might like to have a look at this thread at DSLR.
There was some discussion about it.
Randy and others installed it even without having had those problems, and so far they don't have problems after having installed it.

The link that you gave made very interesting reading. It also makes me feel more in control.

I have Windows 98SE and had only just downloaded and installed IE6 SP1 and all other updates that followed. That was the reason for my hesitency.
