For other Linux fans who are getting into the practical side of the OS:

    http://www.lurklurk.org/rosetta.html

It's very cursory; but I think it covers enough (including the all-important file I/O syntaxes) to help one past the immediate "Wait, how the heck do I do X?" stage of an unfamiliar scripting language.

(Obviously YMMV, but I've bookmarked it. My admittedly limited experience is that learning gets a lot easier once you stop stumbling over syntactical quirks; I hope other people find the same.)
