For those members who might be wondering why ronjor hasn't been seen lately, unfortunately, his town and county in Texas was the epicenter of Hurricane Beryl on July 8th. While he's physically okay, the damage (trees, power lines, etc.) around him is overwhelming, and he has been without power for almost a week and a half. Reports from the local Power Company give a Friday goal of restoring full power to his area. Then, we still don't know how internet connectivity will be like afterwards. He has made contact a few times via phone, and he seems to be in good spirits while living in a war zone. Our thoughts and prayers have been with him ever since, and hope to see him back in a not too distant future.
Good to hear he is OK. I have a friend in Houston that was without power for 7 days. It must be quite a mess for it to be taking this long. Edit: To my knowledge my friend is also still without internet.
It's a complete reconstruction of the power grid on the fly, while people are suffering without power and under heat advisories!
In the movies a hurricane can be spectacular, but in real life it is something you never wish to experience. My best wishes for a return to normalcy as soon as possible.
Thanks for the update. While I do not post as much as I used to, I have noticed him not being around. Godspeed to you Ron!
Tnx for letting us know. Hope the situation improves as quickly as is possible. Will be checking in regularly for any good news.
Thanks @JRViejo greatly to let us know @ronjor is okay personally. Glad to hear that he is OK. I have an online contact known as Hurricane Hal in Galveston and unfortunately while he is okay too, he did a next day driving tour of the epicenter area and it was as one would expect after a Hurricane, To show the gravity and reach of Hurricanes, i'm along the lower end of the Ohio River in extreme southern indiana bordering Kentucky, and while not the same potent force as making landfall in Texas, TS swirling remnants reached this many states uphill.
You're all welcome! Latest figures show that there are still 1,076,460 reported outages in Texas, 9 days after Beryl hit, and he's one of them!
Thanks to @JRViejo and I hope that @ronjor and all effected by Hurricane Beryl get back on their feet and back to normal as soon as possible. Thanks to @EASTER and other Wilders members for thoughtful, informative and kind comments.
Well, everyone's best wishes worked, because he just texted and told me that power has been restored!!! He'll be back as soon as his internet is restored.
Thank you @JRViejo for the information. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family @ronjor on getting things sorted. I know the destruction they can cause. I've been through a few of them here in the Virginia Beach area.
Figures have gone down big time: 58,653 reported outages out of 14,942,722 customers as of this morning!
Thanks JR for keeping us informed. I was afraid that this was going to happen in Ron's area. We often talked in private about it. Best Wishes to you Ron, my dear old friend !!!
Finally checking Wilders after being offline for a few days, so I'm late, but thanks for the updates JR. Seeing someone's name as a subject line is unsettling! Glad to hear Ron is okay. I don't live anywhere near hurricane areas; it must be absolutely terrible. All the best in the aftermath, Ron.
Latest: Ron's area is getting back to normal, and finally, after navigating a phone tree, getting through to a human, his internet will be fixed this Friday, hopefully.
Agreed, the last time I saw that it was because someone had passed away. Maybe a little more details in the subject next time...
Not yet! He's using his smartphone, not his PC, to see us. Hopefully, tomorrow is the day. Got your attention, didn't it?
