Aug 17, 2013 v16 24.00.17.43 came out today its @ v16 24.00.40.53 Version 16 been around for ever updates and improvements are few and far between.
I have used Rising products in the past but I guess we in the states are left out from downloading. When I click the link in the original post it tells me Rising products are no longer available from their English website. And the link on that page should take me to their global site but times out. Does anyone have a link to download this in an English format? I didn't have much success Googling either. Thanks.....
Mirror by me (because HP seems off), please read >Readme< before you download, sh1/sha256 is given in there. Also contacted authors to fix the official HP link.
I found out it is a bitch to uninstall it since it will leave deep traces and hard to get them out. I had to used a lot of tools to get the stubborn traces (the firewall trace) out of the windows 10. So beware. Also it blocks some pages and gives no connection message or opens a page that says BAIDU search with Chinese written. Be warned. I will never install it again.
Installed on an XP drive successfully. I will see how it goes, it did update to the newest version. Maybe on XP it will not be as big a pain. If I have any issues I will post here...thanks again chefkoch..
I remember when this used to be the "flavor of the month" free firewall, back like 10 years ago. Interesting to see it's still around.
Rising has updated numerous times since I installed it on this xp computer. No problems so far and running smoothly in the background. Have not seen any slowdowns or issues. I did like the Rising anti virus program a few years back also but any of the newest versions were not offered in English anymore. Too bad as I think they would make a good combo.....
I thought Rising was from China? When I tried that (about 3 or so years ago from memory) it set up connections to dozens and dozens of DNS servers in the background. So I ditched it. I have a vague recollection that it slowed my system enough for me to go looking for the problem (and discovered that issue). [Since it was some time ago I cannot reflect on it much more than that.] Regards,
That sounds quite fishy, I don't know what's up with these guys. I also hate it that WPS Office tries to connect out, why can't they simply behave?
Thread refreshing...new and quite interesting discuss about RFW on MT https://malwaretips.com/threads/rising-personal-firewall-v16-24-00-56-56.85580/
