it reminds me of VirusChaser, which is basically a clone of Drweb.

similar layout, but its GUI is better than VC's.

im hoping drwebs v5 will have a similar GUI to Rising's (or better... of course :) )

lets not go down that road again, i dont know.

    ask them ;)

this is a rising thread, i like the AV but my only query was the EXTREMELY slow scanning speed (and this is in comparison to drweb :D )

Yep, you just have to take those test results with a grain of salt concerning all av's ;)

    its ok,

having rollbackrx has its advantages, i can choose what setup i like every week/month :)

i bet you own more than me though,

    current snapshots are:

    drweb + prevx (3yr)
    avg suite + prevx (2yr)
    rising + prevx (1yr)

    ----
    not using, but own:

    F-secure IS (many years+)
    Bitdefender (2yr)

    ---

stupid aint it, but for the prices ive paid for all, i doubt ive paid more than a 1 year RRP purchase. *lol*

    ---

drweb + prevx will always be my primary one though, the one i will use 90% of the time, the one i always use for support/sending in files etc.

but its nice to have a choice, for a cheap price.

I might try Rising but I am trying to break the habit of all the av changing :doubt: . Besides all the expense it is becoming a pain in the neck.:doubt:

thats why i only buy ones that aint 'expense' :)

some of the deals i have are just stupid, i would never sell them at that price.

i dont think ive paid more than an RRP of norton or whatever, with all the years i have and different solutions.

I have been trying to break the habit myself but sometimes you have to. In my case it was either my memory card reader or NIS that had to go which prompted the latest change :(

I couldn't find one searching around. IBK did indicate that it would be included in his future tests.

    It must be SLOW!

No express mode as in DW? Or can you tweak the settings, as in deselecting archives to speed things up?

Maybe it uses some sort of caching between updates?

What is the memory usage, update intervals and does it have heuristics, Chris?

Yes, Rising AV does have heuristics, though it is disabled by default (but you can enable it easily via the user interface). The heuristics have not been tested professionally yet but it does not seem like a very good heuristic to me. Regardless, I don't think that the heuristic would fail AV-comparatives' testing, but of course all this is just speculation.

I hear that the 2008 version has improved in this regard as well as general proactive protection. However, I have not yet tried the 2008 version.

    yes it has heuristics,

i like the Smart Virtual Machine with Behaviour Pattern Recognition.

also, the registry protection is pretty effective aswell.

pre-login scans are capable, aswell as a system area scan even before login.

    5 processes / 12mb

no real drag on the machine, and takes up about 150mb HD space.

    * the GUI is just awesome!

    and for the £4 / $8 i paid, its a good purchase :)

edit: its an impressive package, very good software and glad i have this as an option.

uses an umbrella icon, not sure how i feel about that though.

    Offer ended earlier in December.

Will be interesting if you can upgrade to the 2008 version.
