I use the "move" and "copy" features in the XP context menu but miss a program I used to use. Just one problem, I have no clue as to what it was called. Here is what I need......I am looking for a utility that will allow me to SAVE locations I "move" or "copy" to. So instead of having to browse to the location, I can pre-define four or five locations, or at least the utility might save the last four or five destinations making moving and copying much faster. Any ideas?

you can do it manually by going C\documants and settings\user name\send to and putting the locations there

    Hi Iceni60!

Thanks for your attempts at helping me. I think you realized what I was looking for after your first reply. I'm not having trouble with "Open with" - I just need a program that will allow me to select from pre-defined locations to "Move To" or "Copy To"......I have done the "send to" thing, but I like the option of copying or moving. I am so mad at myself for not remembering the utility I once used to give me customized locations. The ShellToys is a great program, it does give you a choice of the last several folders you have copied or moved to. That will definitely do for now. That old program was so neat, but it's probably long gone now. Thanks again for all of your help, it is very much appreciated!

i've just been trying some different registry hacks. the keys are -
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

i have - copy to, move to and send to there the first two don't open up on the right-click menu to give you a chose, but my send to does. i tried using that value to see if the other two will then give you places to choose from, but it didn't work. i've now completely lost my move to on the right-click menu. maybe i should have backed up first :D i have got ERUNT though

Hey Ice, send to was always there I think. But move to/copy to require a regedit. Now I ended up doing this only to realise that it is a tweak in tweakxp!! Could have just ticked a box!!!! I'm sure you and I have talked about this before. I think it was you that alerted me to it in tweakxp? I will see what I can find on it for you.

Interestingly.....the copy to/move to tweak would have to be the best one I've ever done! I use them constantly, and would be lost without them.

    Here Gerard,

If you're on NT/2000/2003/XP, you can do it without additional software.
Copy and paste this in notepad, name it "copy-to-move-to" and save it as "all files" with an extension .reg

*Keep the line spacing exactly as you see it in notepad*
Merge to the registry....effective immediately. Reference page here.
Couldn't imagine going without it!

    * UPDATE EDIT * - Look here for 'special' considerations or conflicts.

hi, do you have a link for it? can i go off topic for a second? i was at the tweakxp site afew days ago and i found a program called AlphaXP i was going to PM you about, i didn't because i wasn't sure about it. i did download it, but got rid of it after an hour or so. but, if it is freeware which i think it is, and safe, not 100% sure i don't really know the site but if it's the same site as tweakxp it's safe. i'm sure you will like it...

is that from the same site as tweakxp the program? i know we have talked about it before. you were talking about a reg tweak and i mentioned the program. it's the opposite this time :D have to wait and see what happens next time :D

one more AlphaXP like program that i know is safe and free Y'z Shadow 1.9

this is what i was trying to do with the reg hack. make Copy to folder and Move to folder have the arrow extension on the right so there's a menu, like there is with Send to. i did try lots, but i couldn't do it. i made a folder for them in C/docs & settings/user name/ and tried different sub key values, but i couldn't do it :(

    Hi ice :)
If you should try it you get a 30 executions demo or there is always tweak manager which gives you around 600 tweaks if you pay for it and that can be found here

i love those free programs on magazine covers :D

i think i have had it now you mention the 30 executions demo. and Tweak Manager looks alot like XSetup Pro. maybe i'll go and get that. my favourite tweaking program is called the tweaking experience. i want to get that again. i have been trying for a few days but the site is often down :'( it's a manual tweaking program, and has lots more too, like tutorials and recommended programs etc.

    ICE!!!!

    You are THE MAN!!!!!!!!

I'm glad you aren't the type to give up easy! This is EXACTLY what I wanted. This is even better than the program I was looking for! Look at all those "copy to" and "move to" options all laid out in a menu tree.... No more browsing to a folder to move or copy.
    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
