It's not entirely clear from the bulletin -- is the revision included in this month's critical updates for XP SP3? Not a big deal, I generally hold off doing MS updates till the end of the week to (hopefully) avoid the traffic jam on MS's notoriously slow servers, so haven't yet seen what's available.

    Thanks Ron !

    Hi Mike,

I got it on my XP-home SP3 Dutch.
    KB 2544893 - MS11-037.
If you don't get it, let us know; OK?

    Take care,
    Jan

Thanks all, just did my updates and this one was indeed among the (relatively few for XP, this month) offerings.

Question: If I remember correctly, the bulletin rated this one "important" but it was included in the critical ("express") updates. Anyone know what the cutoff point is in MS's ratings of importance, where something like this would be demoted to the "optional" category? Just curious.

Thanks, Ron. Looks as if ones rated as "moderate" are probably handled on a case-by-case basis, with the majority probably being treated as optional.

I'd also assume that (proper) security settings and security software fall into the mitigation category.

Suffice it to say, I am rather slack when it comes to applying microsoft patches.

However, I got this popup yesterday from a program I installed, recently.

To see how it would go, I allowed installation, and after reboot they were installed.

P.S. I had never installed KB2544893 the first time around. ;)
