WD Passport & Win10. The user ran into problems due to a failed 'anniversary edition of Win10' old BIOS, caused previous version to be not available. Now BIOS has a password, tried the FUjitsu backdoor passwords all fail. Tried to make system repair disk, from sick machine, error! Made the system repair disk from another machine. I have a 32 bit & 64 bit 'win 10 system repair discs' I can choose an image & the restore process starts, & 64 bit sys repair, errors mis-match btwn. either OS's or wrong 32 bit or 64 bit, sys repair 32 bit "says use 64bit. Okay boot from 64bit sys repair, error mis-match OS or 32bit/64bit. ___________
Rico, I don't understand what you are attempting. Are you restoring a Win10 Microsoft Backup image? Does it complete?
Sorry for the confusion! My friends Win 10 is/was non bootable, but safe mode was available. From safe (sick machine) mode, attempt to make system repair disc. Failed! The WD Passport, required a system repair disc to boot from. Passport does not have a boot disc, they said so & to use windows sys repair disc. From my machine made a 64bit usb, & booted the sick machine from it I chose the image to restore, restore started then Failed, with error msg. about non matching OS. I tried again making a sys repair disc, this time unchecking the box 'include system', & just the utilities were on the USB, booted the sick machine from it, & same error. ________ From SM on sick machine, found no Restore points Fail to revert back to previous build Owner did not have recovery disc F12 choose recovery 'fail' no OS found Owner's problem started with failed anniversary update of win10, MS advised him, update BIOS then use Windows media disc, to install the Win 10. When I got the machine, I downloaded the current BIOS software, F2 to BIOS required password, resulting in sys disabled, found the three special passwords which generated, code to reset password, entered code at I believe dogbert. The BIOS passwords it gave all failed. I tried making a Hirens boot disc, from Win10, but was not successful.
Rico, From a WinPE, copy off his data files to an external HD. Then run Diskpart "clean" to remove all partitions. Use a full Win10 boot disk (not a repair disk) to restore the image to the blank HD.
Thanks Brian, Any ideas on how to remove the BIOS password, if the older BIOS software is installed, next PATCH Tuesday, he will be likely revisit this problem. Note: The code from entering incorrect password 3 times fails. Note used 3 special passwords to get the code. Code was entered http://dogber1.blogspot.com/2009/05/table-of-reverse-engineered-bios.html All Fujitsu passwords fail
Rico, Sorry, I've no idea how to access the BIOS without a password but if it was my computer I wouldn't be interested in the BIOS. Restoring the Windows image would be the main interest. That's standard "Get lost" advice.
