First post, so glad to find this forum.

I've been through the spyware tunnel of doom and have exited in good shape (i think! now i'm in trouble, but enjoy a final look by this board so I can ease back on the paranoia and get back to work, lol).

I've spent days riding the learning curve to end up here and in the meantime I've installed and used:

    NORTON ANTI VIRUS
    AD-AWARE
    CW SHREDDER
HI JACK THIS: (posting log today for review) :)
TDS-3 (they lead me here after emails, thx guys)

Hoping the above is the correct background information needed after reading the requirements for posting.

You've heard all the stories of troubled times so won't bore you so here's my hi jack this! log :

hello, thank you for the welcome!

    now,
    hmmmm

I posted all of the hijackthis.log that was overwritten to my hijackthis.log file (I use jgsoft edit pad for my txt files). Here it is again, I must not have settings correct on hijackthis?

HIJACKTHIS.LOG has only this in it:

anyways, if thats what you are getting, I will advice you to wait for some Expert come . Due to different time zones, some might not be present and some will be on very soon to give their advice.

    keep watching :)

Its not that, Dont think like that. I want some experts to help you out as I am not yet an expert in Hijack.
To me your log(whatever is being seen) is ok.But still confirmation from Experts is required.

    Just be patient and cool.

You have come to the right place :D

ok, "fixed" as suggested ... I was leary of that one myself but with no knowledge base so left it alone.

    re: was I having problems:
yes, monumental, as hinted to in first post then got all the spyware technology as suggested (only had TDS-3 before and I like it).
The problem got so bad a week or so ago that I had to take to techie and they tried to clean it up with all the spyware technology but computer still had problems so ended up wiping harddrive clean .... I've been rebuilding since then up to this point but got another surge of spywares as I was loading some of my old programs ... so this time I downloaded all the spyware programs that people were saying was the best and I've been working on this for a few days now.

that brings me to yesterday when one of my desktop icons "magically" changed from one program to another .... followed closely by another icon saying "Sex Town" or something like that .... so I'm on the umpteenth round of cleaning things out ....

last night I had clearn reads on all searches so thought I'd submit this morning to have y'all check it out to see if there's something I missed before getting to using my programs a lot .... I have backed up video work to catch up on but need clean machine ... (don't we all)..

so to make a long story long ... that's my story, to this point as short as I can make it, hehe ......

I have an IMAPI reg key backup sitting on my desktop that I removed when I was doing all the wrong things so i'm not sure if I should restore that or not ... maybe that's the problem? I'll try to attach it as a file but I'm not sure if I can send that kind of thing via the internet... I'll know soon ... (nope, another lesson learned ... loving it but it burns time that's needed elsewhere)

truding onward, I feel i'm close to the clean machine I used to know...

    :)

Thank you!! It's appreciated in the most sincer manner possible!

Thanks to sub for the patience and guidance, somewhat rare on the Internet these days.... now, on with my work and I know where I can learn more and come for help .....

if any one has solid information on where to read up on how many "services" I need running and how to decide such a thing and the best way to turn them off I'd appreciate a point in the right direction. I am row reading information on a Black Viper web site that appears solid but having another reliable source would be welcomed.

Have bookmarked a tutorial on how to learn to read the HiJackThis info too but ..... will be coming here until I know enough to fish a bit more on my own... THANK YOU ALL....
