I updated Windows on my laptop running W7. I did not sit and watch it while it was going through the process. When I returned it was off and will not start to boot. There is a window which states "Your computer would not start and system repair will repair auto....."
It has been searching for the problem for nearly an hour.

I have a system repair disk that I made at y last make of system image a few weeks ago.
Should I cancel the windows repair search and use the disk that I made? If so how do I do it? I assume I just insert it and it will tell me what to do.

    Thanks, Jerry

    HI Jerry,
It is good that windows was able to fix the issue but slightly worrying that it needed to.
I would reccomend to use a program called crystaldiskinfo to check that the hard drive is ok see link below:
    https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/crystaldiskinfo_portable
if you are unsure of the results then upload a screenshot and I will check it for you.

    Hi lodore,
Been a long time since we "talked."
I ran the program and it stated that the Health status is GOOD. Is that what we were looking for?

If the health status is good and 100%, it indicates there are no issues with the drive.

    Hey Jerry,
I can confirm that yes if the drive reports as good then you do not need to worry.
it was years and years ago you sent me the windows 2k disk time really does fly.
