Using spywareBlaster 6.0... I have uninstalled some older browsers I no longer have use for. They still appear in SpywareBlaster and there seems to be no option to Delete these from SpywareBlaster. Is there something I've missed? Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers
I do not know how SB works but maybe it detects some leftover files. You can monitor a reinstall of the browsers with Revo or HiBit uninstaller and then uninstall them with the same. That should make it as clean as it is possible. If SB still detects anything it is a very picky program if the browsers are not malicious. With that said, why such an old program like SB, it is not necessary any more. Programs like that are obsolete in todays world with modern antivirus.
Hi there, Depending on the browser, you may have leftover browser profiles or registry entries that are leading SpywareBlaster to still detect its presence. If you can list the browser(s) you've removed, we can probably help point to where those leftovers may remain (if you wish to remove them). That said, there's also no harm in leaving these around if you aren't still using those browsers, beyond seeing them listed in SpywareBlaster. (Some browsers don't remove all of the user data as part of their uninstall process, presumably so that your data remains if you should decide to reinstall that browser later.) You'll continue to receive SpywareBlaster updates to protection in general, and it'll be ready if you should decide to try one of those browsers again. (And to clarify an unrelated point: Major version updates are released when needed, and protection updates are released regularly and can be downloaded from within SpywareBlaster itself by checking for updates. So if you've been checking for updates regularly, you're getting them! ) Best regards.
Many Thanks for taking the time to relay this info to me. Sorry for not getting back sooner, have been ill. Since SeaMonkey got new certificates I have re-installed it. I was thinking they were no longer developing but that browser is now OK. The other is Pale Moon which I haven't yet decided to re-install but think I will.give it another go. Those are the only two I had uniinstalled. Yes, I do try to check for fresh database files about every other week, so I am up to date . Cheers
