I want to knwo some freeware that I can use to clean my PC( temp useless files, IE, firefox and Opera history etc). I am not so paranoid about privacy, just want to make my system clean of this junk off and on. I use three browsers Opera(main) , FF and IE- -so it will be good to clean the history of all these by one click.
BTW, as I told I am not paranoid about privacy so I will prefer a cleaner that might leave some junk unremoved( I don,t mind this) but it must never delete a useful file. In the past I used CCleaner but soem users here said that CCleaner renoved some system files messing up their system so I am afraid to sue it now.
Also I don,t want to paly with registry clean up at all.

u can try Index.dat Suite or look here for freeware cleaners.

the two programs ive tried and like are ccleaner (which u dont want) and tuneup utilities (which is a utility suite and shareware).

    As a note concerning CCleaner...
I use it at least 10 times daily, and it never removed anything I didn't want cleaned.
As with any "cleaner" you must give it parameters as to what it deals with.
There is the option to backup before deletion, but I never have, and also not to delete "temp" files unless they are older than 48hrs, but I don't use that either.
Under "Windows" tab, everything is checked, except for "Advanced" settings.
Under "Applications" tab, everything except my Zone Alarm logs, and saved form info is checked.
IE files are under Windows tab, and FF files are located under Applications tab, as I believe Opera would also be, but I don't have Opera installed.
I run it after every internet browser window is closed, after any downloaded files are finished, and after any programs are installed or removed.
If you want to leave certain files alone, simply uncheck them prior to cleaning... ie: Windows tab: Prefetch data, Windows log files, ChkDsk file fragments, and AV or FW log files pertaining to your setup...etc.
For more vigorous cleaning (registry) I use TU2006 and jv16 Powertools.
    But these two aren't "freeware".
For a "Secure" clean, I recommend Clean Disk Security ™
    Found here: http://www.diskcleaners.com/
Note: this is a detailed disk cleaning utility, and if you had trouble with CC, be cautious here.CD Security not only cleans temp files, but also erases unused space on HDD's. Again, it will only clean what you tell it to.

As for other freeware (or shareware) choices, (but untested by me) there are:
    Ace Utilities
    http://www.acelogix.com/
    X Block
    http://www.xblock.com/download-freeware.php
    Free Internet Window Washer 1.5
    http://www.eusing.com/Window_Washer/Window_Washer.htm
    D-Plus+Software Cleaner
    http://freeware.filehungry.com/engl...ties/system_utilities/d-plus_software_cleaner

I tried "The Cleaner" but it gave me more difficulties than CC.
It kept resetting my Creative audio settings to default...
But here it is, if you want to try it:
