I am handing on my computer to my son who has severe PEBKAC disorder.

I need to remove Acronis Disk Director - it's a little too dangerous for him to play with - he already accidentally deleted his Windows partition once

I have been using it to triple boot XP Pro, PClinuxOS and Mepis 6.5.

Can I simply remove Disk Director and fix the MBR?

I have the full Disk Director 11.0 on my new computer. Can I use the restore CD with the full set of utilities to repair the MBR?

I've done some searching but my guess is that it isn't quite as simple as I'd like it to be.

Is this correct? PEBKAC= "Problem exists between keyboard and chair" (Wikipedia definition), no matter Im sure there are members with experience with a Windows and linux (and Mepis) setup that can help you.

Just hang on till they wake up.

    PEBKAC - that's correct ;)

It will only be using Windows from now on, so I really don't need a bootloader any more, just the Windows MBR.
