I've tried to configure Windows XP Remote Desktop and I'm having problems. I have Remote Desktop checked in System Properties under the Remote tab. This is the rule that I created for it. Is there something that I'm missing?
Hi, I don't know what are all the ports, but if I believe your screenshot, and that the single port needed is 3389, then I find weird that it be on both side. I mean that if this port is the server port, then the client port will probably be > 1024. Is this rule for the client or for the server ? You should try to modify the rule accordingly. regards, gkweb.
Gkweb is right, it can't be the same port in both sides. First of all you need to change the ethernet type to IP Do you want your machine to access other machines or vice versa? If you want other machines to access yours, on the right you should put a range on the TCP port dropdown from 1024 to 5000. You should also restrict the IP addresses that can access your machine otherwise anyone can get there. I hope this helps. Peace, Joseph Gama
I would suggest something like the rule shown here. You had the port correct, but the protocol you want is TCP, not UDP. Of course, you will need to substitute "123.123.123.123" with whatever IP address(es) you want to connect to your computer with. I like to create one rule for each client, unless I can use an IP range.
