    Hi all,

We're using ESET with ERAS/ERAC very successfully. I've got a scenario where I need to administer client PCs behind ISA Server 2000 (yes....2000...I know).

Updates work through the proxy quite successfully, but the Remote Admin part doesn't. Out clients never seem to "phone home" to the remote server, yet the "phone home" element works successfully on our remote laptops that have direct internet connections. So the ERAC/ERAS and open firewall ports are all fine.

Looks like the "Remote Admin" bit isn't trying to connct via the proxy that we have defined as a global proxy in ESET. Can anyone confirm if that's the case? Version 4.2.67.

    Many thanks,

    Jim

    Hello,

Are you attempting to have your client machines update from an internal mirror server, or have them look to Eset update servers?

If your ERA server is not downloading updates from Eset through a proxy, please open RA, click on Tools > Server options (CTRL + Shift + O), click the advanced tab, click the "Edit advanced settings..." button to open the RA configuration. Then, expand ESET Remote Administrator > ERA Server > Setup > Update. You need to populate the proxy settings for the ISA server in this section.

However, if your clients are set to update directly to ESET update servers, you need to point the clients to the proxy by: Open the GUI, enter advanced setup (F5), click to highlight "Update" in the context menu on the left, then click the "Setup..." button on the right to enter the advanced update setup. Click the HTTP Proxy tab in the window that opens, then click the radio button for "Connection though a proxy server" and enter the appropriate information.

    Thanks,

    Matt

Hi Matt, and thanks for the reply.

Clients are updating successfully through the proxy, that all works fine. They update from the ESET servers.

What doesn't seem to work is the "Remote Admin" bit. We have three clients at a remote site and they are behind ISA Server. We have the proxy configured in the ESET policy (and we know it works since the clients update successfully). But the clients don't phone home to ERAS/ERAC (and judging by the ISA logs, they haven't even tried). Other clients, not behind ISA, are not configured with the proxy (obviously :) ) and they contact ERAS correctly.
