I assume the dogs would have to wander around the building all of the time sniffing everyone. That just seems like a really stupid idea... *puppy*

Why would you assume that the dogs need to wander around the building? They could just be deployed at the building entrance and sniff each person as they walk on by.

Would you rather get a full-body X-Ray every time you entered the building?

Either way if that prevents a bad guy from gaining physical access to these extremely sensitive systems, I say it is an extremely smart idea.

In that situation the dogs would probably be attended by guards as well. A guard without the dogs would serve the same purpose. If these people are getting in with implants instead of a badge obviously nobody is watching the entrance. A guard without dogs would still be able to stop unauthorized entrance without getting sniffed by dogs. Having dogs would also increase the possibility of an innocent person being bitten by said dogs. Seems like unnecessary liability to me.

Huh? Come on! Don't be silly. PLEASE take a couple seconds to think this through before replying. And please stop arguing just to argue, okay?

:( You didn't read the article, did you? If you had, you would have seen where these implants are NOT detectable by most scanners. So if the bad guy had a counterfeit badge in his hand, how it guard going to stop him? Is the guard going to sniff the bad guy? That wouldn't work - human noses are not that sensitive.

So I ask again, would you want to be X-rayed every time you entered the building?

Oh wow. Like that happens all the time at airports, and other events. Or nursing homes and children's hospitals by comfort dogs. And guide dogs for the blind are biting people all the time, right? And cancer and diabetes detection dogs have to wear muzzles. o_O

Come on, Dude! Be realistic. These are not attack dogs. They are detection dogs. HUGE difference.

Using dogs to detect triphenylphosphine oxide is not what's stupid in this conversation. :(
