Reinstall grub

hi

i first had windows xp, with fdisr.

i then installed kubuntu.

when i booted into windows, i noticed the pre boot of fdisr was no longer there. so i re-enabled the pre boot in the fdisr gui.

when i rebooted, grub was no longer there. i only had the fdisr pre boot. i can no longer boot into linux.

any ideas on what i should do? im just a newbie to linux.

both os resided in the same hard drive.

Hello,

You cannot have 2 bootloaders. Either GRUB or FDISR.

To restore GRUB:

Download Super Grub Disk
http://supergrub.forjamari.linex.org/

Burn the ISO to CD.
Boot from CD.
Choose Linux to boot from.
When it informs you that it cannot boot due to GRUB error / failure / missing etc, let it repair.

BTW, Super Grub Disk is also useful for repair and backup of many bootloaders, including MBR, LILO, GRUB.

i don't know anything about fdisr though.

 

There should be no problem with latest beta from leapfrog as they moved from MBR to partition boot record.

i just found out that if i disable fdisr preboot again, grub shows up again.

thanks also for the supergrub, i downloaded it anyway, may come in handy in the future.
