    Hi all, I downloaded the regedit file below to rid my pc of browser hijack. Does this look ok to merge to the registry ?

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
    "DisableRegistryTools"=dword:00000000

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
    "DisableRegistryTools"=dword:00000000

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
    "Start Page"="http://mail.yahoo.com"
    "Search Bar"="http://www.google.com/ie"
    "Search Page"="http://www.google.com"

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL]
    ""="http://www.google.com/keyword/%s"

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search]
    "CustomizeSearch"="http://www.google.com/ie"
    "SearchAssistant"="http://www.google.com/ie"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search]
    "CustomizeSearch"="http://www.google.com/ie"
    "SearchAssistant"="http://www.google.com/ie"

  2. I would not disable registry editing tools. Some applications you install later maynot work properly.

    Hey jastec,

    The DisableRegistryTools does nothing more than disable the ability for individuals that have physical access to your PC....meaning sitting at your keyboard. The other entries you have therefore can be changed at will via a browser hijack.
