reducing column width prog. files

Hi,

After clicking on start>program files I have several columns with shortcuts to programs. Now I want to reduce the width of those colums but I have no idea where to fix that. Anyone?

I thought I tried that, but in the 4th column there was still a very long name, which I couldn't see.

i know it's not what you asked for, but i have so many programs installed they don't all fit on the menu so i put some that are similar together in the same folder.

also there is a way to make the programs less spaced out, it happens for me when i use the windows classic theme, but i don't know how to do it with other themes
