recover cd wont load main recovery element

hi sorry for this n00b question. ive searched but no specific answer found.

my situation is:

im using the free paragon drive back up version 9

i have no OS

i have a paragon compressed drive image on an external drive

i can boot to the CD recovery utility (version 9)

PROBLEM:

after i select paragon main recovery element, it loads the task bar and then nothing happens.

please suggest a way forward for me. what am i doing wrong here?

update, ok it loads in low res safe mode but then freezes on the scan drive screen

 

How do you type this text, from your phone?
If there is any computer with Windows, you could try the program fresher. eg Backup & Recovery 2012 Free.

yes i tried the latest 2012 recovery CD.

much the same thing as its much the same code.

it still boots in low graphics safe mode and still freezes on the first disk scanning screen.

this time however i can see the hard drives are on.

questions:

1) should the 'hour glass' graphic be spinning, because it isnt.

2) i only have a USB mouse, i dont have a PS2 mouse socket on my mobo. does it need a mouse to work? is it frozen becuase it doesn't see a mouse?



ps i'm using a laptop to write this.
