Recommended Acronis but prob w/serial no.

    After I recommended Acronis 2009 to a friend and asked me to install it for her, I found the following:
    Purchased 4 days ago from Office Depot. Boxed.
    The CD had a very large Serial No. on the envelope.
    When I ran the Installation, and asked me for the Serial No. I found that the number (including - ) was one character longer than the space provided during installation.
    Of course because of this, the serial No. was invalid even for registration.

    Is this a new problem and if not, how to solve it. Today is Saturday so I have to wait until Monday to call support.
    I wonder if I made a mistake recommending Acronis, although I use it and did not have any problems with it.o_O

    Just to confirm the number you are using, the TI 2009 installation code is eight groups of eight characters with hyphens between the groups. It should be 64 characters plus 7 hyphens long.

    I wonder if you typed one extra character in one of the groups?

    The serial number entered had 7 hiphens and eight 8 chars groups.
    We entered and read them back to make sure it was not entered wrong.
    We did it twice.

    Weird.

    I'm sure I copy and pasted the serial number from the email (purchased online), so it had to have the hyphens. I can't see why yours wouldn't fit.

    Well, you could try it without the hyphens while waiting to ask tech support.
