I rarely open the GUI either, which is probably why I've missed this "ad". When I want to do a system scan, I right-click on the systray icon and click on Scan Now.

Same here or I just let the schedule scan occur that I have set! ;) The only thing I have seen is when I did a clean install of The old Closed Beta key is a pop-up to register in which you couldn't!

I've actually turned off the scheduled scans because real-time monitoring is running anyway so I scan every once in a while rather than at pre-defined intervals.

Anyway, to get back on topic, I think a lot of people won't have seen the "ad" being discussed. I don't think it's that big a deal if small and unobtrusive, and only kicks in every so often when you happen to be looking at the GUI.

WSA Essentials perks along so smoothly that I tend to forget it's running. I might open the GUI once a week. Never seen an advertisement here...

Okay, so this thread seems to be having the opposite effect that I wanted it to have.

My intention was actually to report an issue that could very well cause future WSA users to hate the product, because I know of many users here at Wilders that hate to be shown nag screens or in any way solicited by products they are paying for.

So in other words, I was trying to help. That should really go without saying, as I think at this point in time it is pretty well known that I am a huge fan of Prevx and Webroot and I have no motive to complain for negative intentions. Heck, if you need more proof of my love for this product, I will reveal that I have licenses covered for the next 3 years!

Unfortunately, this thread seems to not be helping. It seems to be making people hate me, instead. Obviously, this is not what I wanted to happen. In fact, people are jumping to Webroot's defense and insinuating that I am lying or making this up, demanding screenshots.

I already told you, it shows the message at random and cycles between the "Learn More" message. I will indeed post a screenshot as soon as it happens next. I promise.

Please keep in mind that my criticism is intended to be nothing but genuinely constructive.

We don't hate you STV0726, you just have me looking at the GUI about every hour now. lol

Looks like I'm not the only one that loves this product. :D

The way I see it, it's better that I started this thread and brought this potential issue up, being someone that loves WSA...

...if I didn't, then eventually a new, not-yet-fully-convinced customer may have had this issue, and then the first reporting of this problem would be in the Other Anti-Malware section on this forum, and people who are not customers would be getting information that WSA advertises to customers and it would be chastised for it. And then Joe would have to rush and step in, and assure everyone like he usually does, etc etc etc.

So in a way, I am trying to protect them from having to go through that later.

Doubt more than a couple of hundred folk read this forum STV0726, and most of them are more interested in posting than reading, so I'd not worry about what folk think, although I do think your granny is due a bunch of flowers the next time you visit ;)

I checked with one of the Webroot peeps. They say if you are seeing that on your WSA UI, it's a bug and they want to fix it, because that is an old message for their old program that nobody should be getting on WSA. So get in touch with the Kit QA guy on their community if you can.

I will just say that you are not the first to report that to me...

There was of course no way for me to know that, but still, I wish to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize for my harsh criticism when this was not even working as intended.

Considering that I use a license converted from 7.0, that may have something to do with this...

    Now I feel bad/sad. :'(

Yes this is true if you didn't get the v7 key converted to a WSA key before using it!

Don't feel sad! You're helping Webroot fix it, and also it's cool that they care. :)

I have been in contact with Q&A and this issue but via PM with STV0726 and I try to keep the 2 communities separate!

Ooooh. Now I feel kinda sad for Webroot. They want to fix stuff but they need data, and people prefer to just complain about it here and not help them fix it? Keep the communities separate, fine, but remember, here you can discuss with like-minded people, but there you can get more Webroot people involved in fixing it. I don't think they go deleting accusatory or questioning posts either, so we should be able to bring up concerns on their system too.

I'm not saying that you are wrong but I have been dealing with this behind the scenes then I would of posted the findings as some of the Webroot teams do visit here but we are just trying to keep the two communities separate but that's all I can say! Sorry!

Actually, I did in fact get it converted to a WSA key BEFORE I used it. Although some people reportedly purchased a v7 key and simply plugged it into WSA and that worked, I took the "safe" route and got it converted by Webroot Support beforehand.

Additionally, I will mention that the additional keys I purchased for the future 3 years are also converted and saved in an encrypted text file. :D

I am now going to PM my key to the right person so he can investigate the issue and work at a fix.

Meanwhile, in regards to the Webroot Community, I will be joining that soon. :thumb:

EDIT: I also want to take this opportunity to thank Triple Helix (Daniel) for his support in this matter.

UPDATE: GOT IT TO SHOW! Screenshot coming right up!
