When is the final version of Windows Defender coming out? I don't use it, but I'm just curious. It's been on beta 2 for months and months.

Maybe M$ is developing it further in an attempt to make it an effective tool.

I thought it was interesting that on the antispyware poll on this forum, MS Windows Defender got a low user polled number. :p The beta is supposed to expire at the end of this year. With Windows Vista looming on the horizon, who knows what will replace it? I saw a lot of people recommending the program, but I don't think the track record of this program is that good. Just because it has been "approved" by Microsoft doesn't mean that it is good. Just look at all of the problems with their other software. I read on a lot of forums that you should stay away from beta software. So why do they recommend it if it is a beta programo_O? A stamp of approval from MS means nothing to me.:D

    Hi ccsito,

I beta test. Some betas are very stable, others are not.It all depends on the developer.

A M$ stamp of approval means nothing to me either.
Especially considering that Windows Defender is the former Giant Antispyware program that was way better than Windows Defender.
