Thank you for your swift reply. Typically around every 2 hour on an average day I'd say

I always shutdown my laptop if am going to be away for more than an hour or so. My laptop therefore goes through multiple shutdown and start cycles in a day. I have read that doing this is not good for the electronics inside the PC, but my previous laptop provided excellent service for 10 years (it still works), and the current one is going to hit 7 years this November. So just restarting your PC multiple time a day should not cause any issues whatsoever.

is your computer fitted with a HDD or a SSD?
a hdd is more sensible to starts and shutdowns and thus dying some earlier than a ssd.
