ESS4 is asking permission for the following:

    Outbound traffic
Application : Resource and Performance Monitor
    Remote computer : 224.0.0.252
    Remote port 5355 (llmnr )

    and

    Outbound traffic
    Application Java(TM) Plantform SE binary
    Remote computer : 208.184.36.73.available( 208.184.36.73 )
    Remote port 80 (http)

Im not sure why Perfmon has to connect to a server, maybe it sends MS some usage statistics ? What functionality would I lose if i dont allow it to connect?

As for Java, Updates maybe ?

    Hello EarlZ,

You are asking a question for a Microsoft related product. We are unable to answer for their products. Microsoft support can assist with this.

    Thank you,
    Richard

    Hello,

The 224.0.0.252 IP address is a local multicast address on your internal network and port 5355 is used for Link-local Multicast Name Resolution in Windows Vista (and newer). LLMNR is a way for a computer to determine the name/presence of other hosts on the network when there is no DNS server present.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky
