    Dear WSF:

I purchased KSC (Paid Version) installed it, rebooted. Windows Firewall is off, KSC firewall is on....So far so good.

Then I noticed, windows said I have 2 antivirus installed and running, so I turned off Windows Defender (AV).

Is this OK, or do I need to allow windows defender and Kaspersky Security Cloud both run on my PC ?

    Thanks

Thanks for writing...I wonder why is it everything MS writes, seems confusing, or contradictory to what the OS seems to relate to the user?

I turned OFF Windows defender because when I went to control panel / security it said I had 2 AV installed and you should never use 2 AV....Nothing said about passive / back seat, support ETC.

So I went to the registry and turned it off.

I hope the KSC (Paid Edition) has me covered ?

most AVs register themselves as an AV to the system, which forces the system to disable Windows Defender
KSC Free does this too, so you're fine.

If you ever manipulated the state of Windows Defender by registry hack, or by Group Policy, you might have changed the default behavior for Windows Defender.

Even if you didn't, it is quite common for Windows Defender to forget to turn itself off. You can see your 3rd party AV listed in Windows Control Panel, and it is on. So you should just turn Windows Defender off, without any worries. You are protected by your 3rd party AV.

If you ever uninstall your 3rd party AV, make sure that WD turned itself back on, and if it didn't, you should force it to turn back on.
