My Comodo Firewall has says it has blocked 48 intrusion attempts so far. Is this normal or is someone trying to hack my computer?

No, almost certainly this is a big NO, as well. It's just part of being on the internet to receive random scans. Just don't panic it's unlikely they'd ever get through if *just say for the sake of it* someone was trying. Analyse the firewall log (Comodo forum usually help) to make sure you don't have a default block rule causing repeated events appearing as an intrusion attempt. If you notice a persistant address bugging you ... for peace of mind ... whois the IP (get an idea whom this could be) and make a new rule blocking it, or the IP block. It should be pretty simple using Comodo.
