    Hi

    ---------------
    WHAT I SEE:

Acronis True Image Home - when we select the following option:

    Backup
Backup your files, folders or the entire hard disk

we get two options (to select):

    1. The entire disk contents or individual partition (or)

    2. Files and Folders
    -------------
    WHAT APPEARS:

What appears from above is that as if option 1 is capable of creating image of one partition and then we can later restore that partition from image so created.

This is in contrast to option 2 which can only create images of files and folders but not entire partition it seems.
    -------------
    WHAT LOGICALLY SHOULD FOLLOW:

From above what logically follows is that if i have Hard DisK One in which there are two partitions - first partition containing OS windows xp say and second partition containing data - and

IF i use option "1. The entire disk contents or individual partition " to create an image of first partition (which contains OS) then logically it follows that if i restore such image to a blank hard disk; i should be able to boot from such second hard disk as i have backed up entire partition (which is supposed to create an image of entire partition)...
    -------------
    PROBLEM:

I am not able to boot from second hard disk after restoring image in second new hard disk...o_O?

    # Does it mean that both option 1. The entire disk contents or individual partition and 2. Files and Folders - are actually same options.....

    # Does it mean that "Backup your files, folders or the entire hard disk" backs only data and NOT actually creates image which is bootable....o_O

If yes then why have two options at alll....o_O?
    -------------

I hope I have been able to explain my situation clearly and hence would urge plz plz to put forward valuable suggestions and replies....

    Thanks and Best Regards

whi i am not able to get "MBR and Track 0" Restore Option also along with drive letter when I try to restore image (of partition which contains OS).....as shown in TI user Guide...o_O?

The user guide says that "Disks and partitions images contain a copy of track 0 along with MBR (Master Boot Record). It appears in this window in a separate line. You can choose whether to restore MBR and track 0 by checking the respective box. Restore MBR if it is critical to your system boot. "

But i am not getting it....the user guide screenshot is

I'm not an expert by any stretch, however I don't think you can restore files and folders from an image (unless you choose to mount the image and then drag and drop). You can only restore files and folders if you chose to backup only files and folders (not from an image).

I believe you can restore individual sectors from an image. But if you imaged you should get MBR and O when you attempt to restore the imaged boot system sector. I'm just taking a stab at this, and there are other posters who can help you much more than I might.

Instead of posting picture of things that are of no help, post the screens you are having problems with.
A screen shot of the User Guide does not give any insight into your problem.
