Although it might be my DVD recorder I am getting a number of failures when I attempt to duplicate a DVD that I have made. Often the first one is OK, but if I want to make a second it goes through the whole process, and then says it failed. My system is about 4 years old, and has not been used much to record CDs or DVDs. I have been using Memorex and Imation disks. Any ideas? Thanks, Jerry
Grab the 1.6.1 Jerry, extract it to your desktop, run and forward the name in the open box up top. Include the firmware version.
Sorry for the delay. Here is the info. D:TEAC DV-W28EAT Firmware Version 1.98. Thanks. Regards, Jerry
Got a fast connection - wanna try the burning suite from an easy to use Linux disk? How about we forward a make and model? This happening with your desktop too?
It does not happen on my desktop which does not record DVDs. I am not sure what is involved in your suggestion. Thanks, Jerry
I am using the file checker to see if there are any bad files. A friend thinks that could be the problem. I'll see what gives. I suspect he thought he was talking (over the telephone) to a stump since I had not been identified as Administrator, and the Command Prompt would not accept my command. Finally got it done in spite of myself. Regards, Jerry
OK good. Yeah, check it out "stump" - if she turns out a nogo, we'll continue. Be proud of your bad self!
Of what thing? Now you know what I mean by "stump." Is it this? D:TEAC DV-W28EAT Firmware Version 1.98. Regards, Jerry
It took a long time, and I was not here when it completed. When I returned from church there was no window informing me of anything. If it found errors and fixed them I don't have any idea. I won't have anything to copy for a day or so. I will see what happens then.Thanks. Regards, Jerry
I'll be watching. As far as quality, one of our reliable sources suggest you stock Sony or Verbatim. Raza included this FYI.
memorex and imation is junk media. stick with verbatim for in store stuff and even that is no where near what it used to be, if you want the best get some yuden media but buy the 8x not the 16x. i buy from supermediastore.com look for the tyg02 best stuff out there its all i use on stuff i want to save.
sony, verbatim and also the lowcost Ridata have proven very reliable for me. The very best blank dvd's is JVC (but only if it's made in japan.) You can use this program to test the quality of your media. Memorex is one of the worst brands for media. http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Nero_CD-DVD_Speed more infor on dvd media http://forums.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/47
Thanks for the replies. I will check the media I have. Verbatim and Memorex are the most common. I will take a look at the availability of Sony. I don't remember seeing JVC. Now normally I don't care about quality if it is cheap enough. Maybe I should rethink that. Many thanks. I am not having the amount of problems I did previously. I have started using ImgBurn free.
