That's a real shame as I found it very useful. I am not aware of any alternative that JUST shows security updates. I don't need to know that there is a later version of my software if there is no security threat.
This is bad news for my 82-year-old father-in-law, who still uses it. It's easy to use and just shows the essential updates. I don't think there is a good alternative that he is able to use.
That post says, "Today we are announcing the End-of-Life of Personal Software Inspector(PSI). This product will no longer be available from April 20, 2018". While it doesn't say they will turning off their servers I assume the PSI will no longer contact any servers so will not work after that date.
Got to say I am very disappointed with this , I have been using PSI for many years. I am unware of a like for like replacement. There are other apps like Ninite, Sumo , Kaspersky Application updater but none of them are quite like PSI
Flexeras Announcement here is a little more explicit: https://www.flexera.com/enterprise/...ility-management/personal-software-inspector/
Thanks for the list of other apps. I had not heard of Kaspersky Application updater and have just installed it for a test. My first impression is that it is the nearest to PSI and I will probably keep it. It gives you the option of updating or leaving and highlights programs that it considers important updates.
https://support.kaspersky.com/11827#block6 Unfortunately their list of supported programs is not quite as comprehensive as PSI was.
Yep, I saw it this morning and already uninstalled it from 3 of my 5 computers. I used the program for years but doubt that I will miss it since I am long retired and can do the updates on my own and since I use Kerish Doctor it does pretty good by itself.
Maybe not but it covers all the important potential security threats and works quicker and more smoothly than PSI. I think it's a keeper for me

They are links to the individual websites. You have to actually click on WOT links that popup, to go to the WOT pages.
Okay, I misunderstood you. Some people care about WOT ratings. Personally, I've never taken any notice of WOT ratings.

Thanks for the article. The links and the first comment refer to Patch My PC which looks like a great portable program. Have just tried it and now think I will be using this (rather than the Kaspersky Updater). https://patchmypc.net/overview EDIT Just realised there is a Wilders thread here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/patch-my-pc-updater-check-for-software-updates.400875/page-1
I was going to wait until the last minute to uninstall PSI but I'm getting an annoying notification on all machines every time Windows starts to open the program to "view an important message regarding the future of this product". Bye bye PSI.
Uninstalled mine yesterday and am happy with Patch My PC. Only thing I miss about PSI is that it gave you a full list of all installed programs which you don't seem to get elsewhere. Still I am finding PMPc much quicker and I like the manual updating process more than PSI.
I'am also liking PMpc, but missing Secunia's icon in the task bar. Red meant I had to do some work on the laptop of one of my kids. Using Belarc Advisor for MS Security Updates and a list of installed programs (Software Versions & Usage). https://www.belarc.com/products_belarc_advisor
