Seems interesting, plus it can also function as a 2FA authenticator. I suppose this means that if a website supports Google or MS Authenticator it will also work with password managers like Proton?

As long as the site is using TOTP for 2FA the answer should be "Yes".

1Password already does this for quite some time:

As do many others. Is 1password a favourite of yours?

Meanwhile, back on topic, no need to get to excited as "While the service will eventually become free for everyone to use, it’s currently only available as a beta to Proton’s Lifetime and Visionary users for now".

OK I see, I guess I need to check it out, have you tried it? Does it work on every site that supports Google and MS Authenticator?

1Password or Proton? I use 1Password for TOTP almost every day. Works great!

What do you mean with "site that supports Google and MS Authenticator"? TOTP is an open protocol, implemented in those Apps, but in many other 2FA Apps as well. Both Google and Microsoft added additional proprietary 2FA options on top of that for their own sites, which are of course not supported in any third-party 2FA App.

OK, I see. Thanks for the info and yes I meant 1Password. What I've read about Authy is that since it uses your mobile phone number it's not that safe. But Authy is the only one with a desktop app.
