Wouldn't locking things down under an LUA do it?

My son is only able to do anything meaningful via the opera icon on his desktop.

TM can be disabled thus or you could try the s/w discussed here.

I find Returnil works well for kids using the computer,basically they can mess about all they like without doing any damage.Otherwise Philby's suggestion would be an option.

Assuming the OP doesn't want the rollback feature offered by Returnil, wouldn't another option be to set up the LUA with SRP, even if you don't have gpedit.msc (ie if you're running XP or Vista Home)?

E.G. To disable Control Panel for the LUA:
Go to SRP via Local Security Policy in Administrative Tools.
Disallow the path C:\windows\system32\control.exe and set this to all users except local adminstrators

Edit: OK, that was too loud - there's no Local Security Policy on either XP or Vista Home - seems SRP cannot be done on Home versions without hyper-difficult reg-tweaking

Depending on your OS, the Group Policy Editor works well.

i use vista and use defensewall and rollback rx,i only use 1 user account now(admin)but when i create a lua i get problems.when logging off 1 account to the other i always get user profile did not load correctly i think its something to do with rollback rx.but when i use 1 account i have a 16 & 7 yr. old boys and dont want them to mess with the settings.i dont want to uninstall rollback because its good if somethin goes wrong plus i paid for it.i think i might give returnil free a try,thanks guys
