    They are not the same type of software, SSM has very little overlap with ProcessGuard, many users use both.
    SSM is still in beta but is free and ProcessGuard has a free version and a trial version - Try them both first :)

    SSM 2 website says it comes out of beta at the end of december, then it's payware. Also has a new website.

    See this post for a comparison between PG and SSM - I would however recommend running SSM 1.9.6 rather than the latest 2.0.0 since that seems rather buggy.

    All I know is SMM looked like an encyclopedia not a program
