+1 Btw, asked in the Community, but thought I'd ask here too: Would there be any performance advantage to setting default power profile to Bitsum Highest Performance, instead of High Performance, or enabling Performance Mode, even though one is not gaming?
According to Jeremy here: https://malwaretips.com/threads/process-lasso-101.62956/page-4#post-616276 , ETA release of v9 stable is tomorrow. Woohoo! I hope I understood the post correctly, though. This is what he said:
Yes, you will get its advantage because what it only does is disable core parking, disable frequency scaling, and if still applicable, change ProBalance to act slightly aggressively. Expect to have more power consumption with it. I don't use it for regular computer usage, except for games that require high CPU loads.
Yes, more power consumption can be expected. The developer has answered in the Process Lasso-forum and it "doesn't try to save any energy"
By the way, Jeremy told me that the "fix" for process handle leaks won't be included in the first stable release of v9. He is still finding a way to fix the elusive bug.
Thanks! Also, Jeremy just told me that this beta build has the temporary solution to the bug I mentioned. If the temp solution works, then he said he's on the right track to finally quash this bug. Edit: He said "171" not "271". So, maybe he's not referring to this beta build, or it's just a typo on his part. Edit2: Asked Jeremy about it. Edit3: Just got a clarification. No, the temp solution isn't included in this beta build. He said he decided to not push this yet, as he needed more time to test and figure something out.
9.0.0.256 is being offered now and listed as the v9 release. Since the last beta was .273 it's confusing that the release would be at a lower build number....?
I just checked for updates and am offered .256 now. .256 is stable? It doesn't mention beta anywhere. https://bitsum.com/changes/processlasso/#latest Edit: It is actually .276 installed.
Might be a typo on the website 9.0.0.256 After downloading it i can see 9.0.0.276 as the file-version of the installer. And all executables inside the installer have the same version-number (i haven't installed it yet)
It's the new name for the same functionality, as far as I know. I read somewhere that it's to differentiate it to other "gaming modes", especially Creators Update's.
Redundant Confirmation: IIRC, I bought my Lifetime License for Process Lasso around the same time that I returned my last VHS rentals to Blockbuster Video and have used it ever since. I did not mess with The Beta. Yesterday, the most current, non-beta version 8.xx.what.ever updated to v 9.0.0.276.
