This morning when I logged onto my PC I received a threat warning from NOD32. The threat was was classified as a variant of Win32/Spy.Silentbanker trojan.

A deep scan uncovered a number of infected files which I deleted.

I then ran a second deep scan to make sure that the virus was definitely gone. On this second sweep NOD32 detected nothing.

The next time I turned on my computer I received a threat warning for Silentbanker again, originating in a new file created by C:|WINDOWS|system32\logonui.exe

I have two questions for minds more tech-savvy than my own:

First of all, how do I get rid of silentbanker?

Secondly, how come NOD32 detects parts of the virus but not all of it (since it reinstalls even after NOD32 has give my computer the all-clear)?

Run full scan with NOD32 and remove any malicious file found .

As a second opinion , I would recommend you download and run either Microsoft Windows Defender or Malwarebytes Antimalware

If you still have problems , contact ESET support technicians

Thanks for your quick response HiTech_boy.

I'll see if these programs you mentioned will do the trick.

    EDIT

Okay - Malwarebytes seems to have done what NOD32 couldn't. The infection appears to have gone.
