it wants to reboot to defrag the system partition, so i click ok, it reboots the computer like normal and does nothing except launch the application in windows

i recall having an earlier version of this product on a different computer and i had the same problem. i was told i needed to do a chkdsk, did that and still nothing.

    win xp home sp3 32bit

With Total Defrag 2010, you can create a recovery disk and run the low level defrag outside of the OS. To build the CD, go to Tools > Recovery Media Builder.

If you click yes to restart the computer, total defrag should automatically load a driver on the reboot and perform the defragmentation before loading windows. If it does not do that then there is a bug in it.

If I run total defrag 2009 from inside the HDM pro, it automatically loads before windows and performs the defrag. I do not need to manually insert a boot disk.

As previously discussed, I built the recovery disk.

But when asked to restart the system, windows loads normally without any boot screen from Paragon.

When inserting the recovery disk, and loading windows, no prompts are given during bootup and the windows logon screen loads per usual.

I was able to perform a defrag of my data drive, but c drive which requires a restart, could not be performed.

On Vista 32, no security software, all were disabled. I'll uninstall and reinstall and see how I go.

I'll download the trial with the full edition, and see how that plays out.

Just another note, anywhere to download the special edition installer again? As when I login to support, there is no link for the special edition download.

Edit - installed full version trial. Created recovery disk, went to defrag partition C, restart needed. Upon restart, windows logon, then windows loads normally.
