Problems with Office XP Small Business

I have a Dell with XP Home and XP Small Business Edition. For some reason I have started having problems. If I go to the Microsoft website and try to scan for updates ,it won't scan. It says it is unable to check for updates. I tried to search for help at Microsoft but you have to send them your bank account number. I also have two updates for Net Framework that won't install. See attachment. When I click on Exel or Word it says to install CD. But when you close the pop up Word or Exel works fine. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.
