    Hello,

i have a Problem with Acronis True Image Home 2009. I have installed the Software on my Windws XP Operating System. 3-4 days after the installation of Acronis True Image i lost Files from my Userprofile. I lost dbx Files from my Outlook Express account and the Wallpaper in Windows XP get lost. Also any Programms which i installed after Acronis installation doesn´t work.

Has anyone the same Problems like this ?!

    Please give me a reply.

    kindly regards.

    Questions:

1- are all you guys on XP?
2- Does this happen with Outlook 2003 or 2007?
3- When you discovered this problem, was it "after" doing a backup? and...
4- Are the .pst files missing from the "backup" or the actual folder?

I ask these questions, because I'm using Vista 64 with Outlook 2007 and this issue concerns me as I've purchased TI2009 about a week ago.

Haven't done a backup yet, only some disk clones.

    Thanks

I'm using Win XP Pro SP3, Outlook 2003, it happened after a backup but don't know how long after a backup(s). The PST files are not missing in the backup itself (in the TIB file). The PST files are missing in the directory located on the C drive where Windows uses it.

This is issue worse then the "USB card reader missing" blunder.

I got you. Yeah, this issue is starting to scare me. I've been reading about it here as well https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=225953

I haven't done a backup yet because of this issue. I know there are work arounds but...

Incidently, I think these two threads should be merged.

I agree about the merge. If the PST files can be missing as well as wall paper in Windows I wonder what else could be missing that we don't see.

Just an idea: backup the Outlook *.pst files to another location, before backup or making an image?
I run my pst files from an external NAS, works fine....
When I recently restored my first Acronis (2009) imagefile, Outlook 2007 started with an Office 2007 configuration screen...That gave me the creeps first, but after that everything was back as usual. I guess Office 2007 had problems with the re-newed profile or so..Did'nt see that screen back anymore though...

    Good point.

I'll probably do a backup this weekend and go from there. I keep my critical files backed up in multiple places and/or on seperate hard drives so I'm not too worried about losing stuff. I Just don't want to go through the hassle of figuring out what went wrong and or what if anything is missing :(

If you can't trust the program to do what its supposed to do, that in and of itslef is a problem!

    We'll see.

Why am I using ATI 2009 then? I could use xxcopy (xxcopy.com) to backup my files. The point is ATI 2009 should have never gone out the door with such a flaw. What else might we be missing??

To clarify, are these problems happening with a 'files and folder' backup or with a partition image?

You mean the actual file(s) on the hard drive, right?

It happened again today. PC was off over the weekend. The backup schedule is 2pm daily (will backup the next time the computer is turned on, I checked that off). I turned on the PC Monday morning at 8:30am and WHAMO! my desktop back ground is gone and so is my Outlook.pst. The backup did kick in at 8:30am when the PC was turned on but I did not open Outllok just yet. The Outlook.PST is fine on the 8:30am backup but not on the Local C: drive.

I certainly have experienced "corruption" of Desktop when TI has started backup on Windows Startup. The desktop recovered when I logged out and logged in again. Have never lost Outlook 2007 files. I have disabled the "If missed, run the task at startup" as otherwise you never get to use the computer :'(

Marchwood did you check your Outlook files before you logged out and logged in again or after?

"If missed, run the task at startup"

This is a important feature. Should only take a minute to do an incremental. If I did not have that I would have to go back to Friday's Outlook backup file located in image.

I downloaded 2009 two days ago and installed. I had a problem *unrelated to this), so I started a chat, and was told that there was a later build, 9646. Perhaps it solves this problem (just a thought – I have no reason to believe it does).

    Regards,

    Hans L
